Non-Executive Director

£13,000 per annum
Minimum 3 days per month
3 year term with potential for re-appointment

Your role as a Non-Executive Director is to provide an independent perspective at Board level and seek assurance. You will enable scrutiny, constructive challenge, effective decision making and improved outcomes for patients, carers and their families.

Together with the Executive Directors, you form a unitary Board of Directors that is responsible for the Trust’s delivery of safe, effective and quality services within the financial resources available by:

  • Setting a robust and achievable strategy.
  • Ensuring that financial, operational and strategic objectives are met.
  • Identifying and managing strategic risks.
  • Setting and embedding organisational culture.

As members of a unitary Board of Directors you share responsibility with and have the same liability as the Executive Directors for the performance of the Trust.

About You

You must understand the complexities of working in a multi-site operation, bring high levels of personal and business integrity and be able to ensure exemplary standards of quality, probity and governance.

With experience of challenging and debating constructively in a Board environment, the sector that you have worked in is less important than your commitment and engagement with patients, carers and the community. This will be clearly demonstrable and consistent with our values, leading to successful outcomes for us and our patients.

A track record in driving Equality, Diversity and Inclusion related issues is important, together with the ability to demonstrate how you have challenged discrimination and inequality.

You will be able to influence and persuade others, be committed to working as a team member and possess the motivation to improve NHS performance.

The successful candidate for the role of Audit Committee Chair must have a prior understanding of finance and internal control at a senior level in a complex environment and perhaps other relevant expertise such as risk management.

You should be able to demonstrate an interest in Northamptonshire and preferably live in the county or in a neighbouring county. As a minimum, you must be resident in England as those living outside England will not be eligible to apply.

We would like to positively encourage applications from people with diverse backgrounds and in particular applicants from BAME communities, people with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ people.
